Ford Mustang 2013, Like a fine wine, the Mustang just gets better with age. Okay, lame clichés notwithstanding, Ford has made a raft of significant updates on its iconic muscle car despite this possibly being the last model year for the current generation Mustang.

Coming into the 2013 model year with fresh new styling and more power under the hood for most models, it’s hard not to be tempted into giving the Mustang a closer look.

The key difference is a more aggressive look, brought about by a significantly more prominent grille, a new splitter, and body-colored rocker panels. Performance models like the Mustang GT also get new and completely functional heat extractors on the hood.

There are also LED touches in both the head- and tail-lights, while at the rear there’s also a new high-gloss black panel that connect the individual light elements. Also new for Mustang design are standard high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps on both V-6 and GT models.

Another major update for 2013 is the addition of an innovative 4.2-inch LCD integrated in the main instrument cluster. This screen features a special option called Track Apps, which delivers performance metrics for drivers right from the factory. The app measures g forces, shows acceleration times in quarter-mile and 0-60 increments, and displays braking times, complete with automatic and countdown starts.

In terms of performance, the base V-6 model remains unchanged and still delivers a healthy 305 horsepower. The V-8 endowed Mustang GT, however, now develops a peak of 420 horsepower from its 5.0-liter powerplant. Final EPA gas mileage figures are yet to be released.

Buyers can still choose between a standard six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic, and for 2013 all automatics are now fitted with a SelectShift option that provides the driver with full manual control of the gear shifting.
